At last I found out what happened to Katie and Fred and the babies, and all the others who managed to survive book one and make it into this, the second book in the trilogy Let s be perfectly clear you must read Year One before you read this book or large chunks of it will be meaningless.Of Blood and Bone is very much a middle book It does not have all the fear and horror of Year One but instead it builds up the central characters and prepares us for the main event which is still to come Ther At last I found out what happened to Katie and Fred and the babies, and all the others who managed to survive book one and make it into this, the second book in the trilogy Let s be perfectly clear you must read Year One before you read this book or large chunks of it will be meaningless.Of Blood and Bone is very much a middle book It does not have all the fear and horror of Year One but instead it builds up the central characters and prepares us for the main event which is still to come There are moments of danger but the author spends most of the book enjoying herself with witches, fairies, and fantastic beasts, which suited me just fine.A fun book, easy to read and definitely magical Be prepared for something huge in book 3 Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I try not to make a habit of commenting on the dirty laundry of prominent authors that s not what this site is for but in light of the controversy surrounding this book and Children of Blood and Bone , I m going to have to side with Ms Roberts on this one Her response to the accusation is absolute gold and though I ve yet to read any of her books, I m going to be very quick to remedy that, starting with this series She s just shot to the top of my list of Ultimate Queens for that alone.

I know that I am low man on the totem pole regarding this novel as it has gotten much well reviews but.Of Blood and Bone is a fantasy dystopian novel book two in a trilogy Although I did not read Book One, the prologue and first few chapters did well to acclimate me to the previous book so I felt this a good way to also introduce this as what could be a stand alone novel For this point, Ms Roberts did well. The story revolves around Fallon, a soon to be 13 year old destined t I know that I am low man on the totem pole regarding this novel as it has gotten much well reviews but.Of Blood and Bone is a fantasy dystopian novel book two in a trilogy Although I did not read Book One, the prologue and first few chapters did well to acclimate me to the previous book so I felt this a good way to also introduce this as what could be a stand alone novel For this point, Ms Roberts did well. The story revolves around Fallon, a soon to be 13 year old destined to train against evile forces After two years of training and after 260 pages of training yawn the story became tired, redundant and repetive Filled with wizardry, magick yep, that s how she spells it , faeries, magic manifestations and witches incantations, the book started up with a bit of spark but once I no longer felt compelled to pick up the book or lost interest in where the story was going, I knew it was time to put the book down.If Ms Roberts is aiming for a YA audience the book might be successful in my mind With only 184 pages to go I had to put it down 446 pages in the book.It immediately gave a likeness to The Hunger Games and other such dystopian titles The characters seemed trite and surface only which only added to the weight of the book It might just be a case of this genre being over done Thanks to A Likely STore Bookstore for the ARC but I have to place this book in my DNF catagory

I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway.First, if you haven t read Year One I suggest you do While there is a brief recap in the prologue, I feel you need to read the first to get into the second.Second, this is a different Nora Roberts than anything I have read before, and I have read 90% of her books For that reason this book, as well as the first, was a little hard to get into While her usual trilogies have a pattern three men, three women, who pair up at the end of each of t I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway.First, if you haven t read Year One I suggest you do While there is a brief recap in the prologue, I feel you need to read the first to get into the second.Second, this is a different Nora Roberts than anything I have read before, and I have read 90% of her books For that reason this book, as well as the first, was a little hard to get into While her usual trilogies have a pattern three men, three women, who pair up at the end of each of the books this series focuses on Fallon Swift, the chosen One There is very little of the romance that we expect from Ms Roberts. This book jumps time in large quantities It starts with Fallon in her 12th year, so we miss the past years of what is happening in New Hope As we know from the first book, she leaves with Mallick on her 13th birthday That s where the time jumping starts We jump ahead a few months, then a year Interspersed in these chapters are intense details of a day or two, then we jump again During this time Fallon is training and learning her craft When she is about to turn 15 Fallon returns home, where I think she stays for a year before heading out again A period of four years, I believe, is covered, so a lot of details are missing. That being said, there is also a lot of detail crammed into those years if that makes sense I could imagine myself in the faerie glen, on the farm, traveling to New Hope although a lot was left out of that journey I could see the prison in Cape Hatteras It is very rich in details and descriptions.I was VERY surprised at the end You know there is a traitor in the midst of New Hope, and there are signs pointing to one person, I would ve never expected it to be who it ended up being, and another surprise during the reveal.I enjoyed that the story, while mainly about Fallon and her journey, also included New Hope and the people there However, I would have like to knowdetails How did Fred and Eddie end up together How did Katie end up mayor How does Arlys get her info There are a lot of unanswered questions, but they don t really take away from the story in whole And, as usual with a series, we are left withquestions than answers at the end and now must wait until book three I also enjoyed that they honor Max, Fallon s birth father, throughout the book, that he is not forgotten by anyone as he was an integral part of the first book.Overall I would give this book a 4.5 It was an excellent book, if a little heavy A good book to read on a stormy day wrapped up in a blanket and you have nothing else to do
